Training/Certification opportunities
PYDC is focusing on the following training to develop our workforce:
(i) National Center for Construction Education & Research certification (NCCER),
(ii) property management certification,
(iii) property & cyber security certification,
(iv) facilities maintenance certification, and
(v) real estate certification.
What is the Pivot Center?
Skills Training = Higher Wages = Stronger Tribal Economy
PYDC’s Career Pivot Center (CPC) provides a training location and training path for tribal members, employees, and community members to:
- improve their skills
- increase their employment opportunities; and
- increase earning capacities.
CPC’s goal is to provide a wage increase of at least 60% after completing the training and provide a job to the trainee. A wage increase of 60% takes an entry-level wage of $12/hr to a living wage of $19.20.
The PYDC Career Pivot Center addresses skilled workforce shortages. It focuses on the following training: (i) National Center for Construction Education & Research certification (NCCER), (ii) property management certification, (iii) property & cyber security certification, (iv) facilities maintenance certification, and (v) real estate certification.
Certifications require different time commitments. For the construction trades (NCCER) training, three to four-year training programs will be offered to 45 participants in year one, 90 participants in year two, and 135 participants in the third year of operation.
The Career Pivot Center’s capacity allows additional certifications to be provided inter-tribally or to meet the needs of neighboring businesses, thereby creating program income to sustain future operations while further strengthening surrounding economies.
